Can cutting insulin before exercise prevent dangerous low blood sugar?
NCT ID NCT07550608
First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looked at how blood sugar levels change during exercise in men and women with type 1 diabetes. 18 active adults aged 18-45 who use an insulin pump completed two exercise sessions—one with their usual insulin dose and one with a 50% reduction beforehand. Researchers measured blood sugar every 10 minutes to see if reducing insulin helps prevent low blood sugar and if men and women respond differently.
