New blood test could reveal hidden cancer spread in colorectal patients

NCT ID NCT07224724

First seen Nov 06, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study aims to develop a simple blood test that can detect whether colorectal cancer has spread beyond the liver to other parts of the body. Current imaging methods often miss small or hidden metastases, which can affect treatment choices. Researchers will analyze tiny particles called exosomes in the blood of 500 adults with metastatic colorectal cancer. The goal is to create a more accurate, non-invasive tool to guide treatment decisions.
