New brain test could sharpen diagnosis of memory and language disorders

NCT ID NCT07573046

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study is testing a new set of tasks called the ExéSem battery to help doctors tell apart two types of language problems in people with Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, or primary progressive aphasia. The battery measures how well someone can name objects and understand words, especially when the task requires more mental effort. The goal is to improve diagnosis and care by identifying whether the difficulty is due to a loss of word meaning or trouble with thinking skills. About 140 French-speaking adults aged 50 to 90, both with and without cognitive problems, will take part.
