First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving evolocumab, a powerful cholesterol-lowering drug, within 24 hours after clot-busting treatment could prevent early neurological decline in people with acute ischemic stroke caused by large artery atherosclerosis. 132 adults were randomly assigned to receive either evolocumab plus standard care or standard care alone. The main goal was to see if the drug reduced worsening of stroke symptoms in the first week.
