New EUS pressure test may predict varices treatment outcomes
NCT ID NCT05597488
First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special ultrasound (EUS) that measures blood pressure in the liver can predict how well varices (enlarged veins) respond to banding treatment. Researchers will follow 160 adults with cirrhosis and varices for one year after banding. The goal is to see if high pressure readings at 3 months match with varices that still need treatment at 1 year.
