Can a hormone pill help block bad memories?
NCT ID NCT07419594
Summary
This study is testing whether a single dose of the hormone estradiol can reduce the formation of intrusive, unwanted memories after a stressful experience. Healthy female volunteers will watch a distressing film and then track any intrusive memories for four days, comparing those who took estradiol to those who took a placebo. The goal is to understand the biology of memory formation, which could inform future prevention strategies for conditions like PTSD.
