Summary

This study tests a medicine called esomeprazole, given through an IV, to prevent stress ulcers and acid reflux in 50 adults recovering from surgery in the intensive care unit (ICU). The goal is to see if it can keep stomach acid at a safe level for 72 hours. Participants must be 18-75 years old, not have certain severe conditions, and stay in the ICU for at least 3 days.
