New hope for babies with Birth-Related brain injury
NCT ID NCT01732146
Summary
This study tested whether a high dose of the drug erythropoietin, given alongside standard cooling therapy, could improve survival and reduce long-term brain damage in full-term newborns who experienced a lack of oxygen during birth. The trial involved 120 newborns with moderate to severe brain injury who were already receiving cooling treatment. Researchers aimed to see if the drug helped babies survive without serious neurological problems like movement, vision, or hearing impairments.
