First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study is testing whether erdosteine, a drug already used for other conditions, can safely reduce fat buildup and scarring in the liver of people with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). About 50 adults with fatty liver will take the drug and be monitored for changes in liver fat and fibrosis. The goal is to find a new treatment option for this common liver condition.
