Could a tiny epinephrine shot prevent dangerous drops in blood pressure during C-Sections?
NCT ID NCT07480889
First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving a small dose of epinephrine (adrenaline) right after spinal anesthesia, followed by a steady infusion, can prevent blood pressure drops during cesarean sections. Researchers will compare this approach to epinephrine infusion alone in 100 women aged 18-35. The goal is to see if the bolus provides better stability without increasing risks.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Epinephrine (adrenaline)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a simple way to prevent dangerous blood pressure drops during C-sections, improving safety for mothers.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Epinephrine can cause side effects like rapid heart rate or high blood pressure.
