Epilepsy surgery patients get stomach check before anesthesia

NCT ID NCT07421661

First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people with epilepsy digest food and liquids at a normal rate before surgery, even after following standard fasting rules. Researchers will use a quick, painless ultrasound scan to check the stomach contents of 30 adults with epilepsy scheduled for surgery. The goal is to see if current fasting guidelines are safe enough for epilepsy patients or if they need to be changed.
