Tiny brain sensors may pinpoint epilepsy hotspots

NCT ID NCT02491476

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether special microelectrodes can record 'fast ripples'—tiny brain signals that might help locate where seizures start. 54 adults with drug-resistant epilepsy who needed brain monitoring took part. The goal was to see if these electrodes work well enough to guide future epilepsy surgery.
