New study tests simpler way to check epidural accuracy
NCT ID NCT07217457
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study compares two methods for confirming that an epidural needle is in the right spot: a pressure-based technique called epidural waveform analysis (EWA) and standard X-ray guidance (fluoroscopy). About 160 adults having planned surgery will receive both checks. The goal is to see if EWA is as reliable as fluoroscopy, which could reduce radiation exposure.
