New pressure test may replace X-Ray for epidural checks

NCT ID NCT07217457

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring pressure waves in the epidural space can confirm correct placement as well as X-ray guidance does. About 160 adults having planned surgery with a thoracic epidural will have both methods tested. The goal is to see if the pressure method is a reliable alternative to X-ray.
