New ear surgery could restore hearing without drilling bone
NCT ID NCT07304999
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests a newer, less invasive surgical technique for otosclerosis, a condition that causes hearing loss by hardening a tiny bone in the ear. Researchers will use a small camera (endoscope) instead of a microscope to perform the surgery. The goal is to see if this approach improves hearing just as well while reducing side effects like nerve injury. About 30 adults with hearing loss due to otosclerosis will take part.
