New needle technique for dialysis access tested against surgery in small pilot

NCT ID NCT04404985

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study compares a new, less invasive needle-based method (endo-AVF) with traditional surgery for creating arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) needed for dialysis. About 21 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two techniques to see if a larger trial is feasible. The goal is to check if the fistula matures properly and can be used for dialysis.
