Study tests gentler sedation for dying patients

NCT ID NCT05085873

Summary

This study compared two sedative drugs, sodium oxybate and midazolam, for providing comfort to terminally ill patients in their final days. It involved 22 patients in palliative care who had severe, untreatable suffering. The goal was to see which drug could provide more consistent and stable deep sedation to ease their distress.
