Heart and sleep hope: drug plus breathing machine shows promise
NCT ID NCT07556094
First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether a diabetes drug called empagliflozin, plus a breathing machine (CPAP), can improve sleep and heart health in 70 adults with both heart failure and obstructive sleep apnea. Participants took the drug or standard care for 3 months, then everyone started CPAP. Researchers measured sleep apnea severity, heart function, and blood markers. The goal was to see if combining treatments works better than standard care alone.
