Mom's voice may unlock brain recovery clues

NCT ID NCT05740735

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at whether hearing a loved one's voice saying your name can give doctors better clues about recovery in people who are unconscious after a brain injury. About 114 patients in intensive care will listen to recordings of their own name spoken by a familiar or unfamiliar voice while their brain activity is measured. The goal is to see if emotional sounds produce stronger brain responses that can help predict long-term outcomes.
