Brain zaps: could acupuncture with electricity boost memory after stroke?
NCT ID NCT07423715
First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tests whether electroacupuncture (a gentle electric current applied to acupuncture points) can improve thinking and memory in people who have cognitive problems after a stroke. About 110 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either real electroacupuncture or a sham (fake) version, alongside standard care. The main goal is to see if the real treatment leads to better scores on memory and thinking tests over 6 months, and to understand how it might work using brain scans.
