Shocking wounds back to health: electrical zaps show promise for bedsores
NCT ID NCT07493889
First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This small pilot study tested whether adding electrical stimulation to standard wound care helps heal chronic pressure injuries (bedsores) in 20 adults with spinal cord or brain injuries. Participants received either standard care alone or standard care plus electrical pulses around the wound five times a week for six weeks. Researchers measured changes in wound size, severity, pain, anxiety, depression, and quality of life to see if the extra treatment makes a difference.
