Zap away jaw pain: new trial tests electrical stimulation for ALS patients

NCT ID NCT07187388

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether a single, 30-minute session of non-invasive electrical stimulation on the face can reduce jaw and facial pain, improve jaw movement, and make chewing easier for people with ALS or PLS. Ten participants will receive the treatment during one clinic visit and report their pain and oral hygiene difficulty 24 hours later. The goal is to find a simple, drug-free way to ease daily discomfort and improve quality of life.
