New imaging method could help ventilated newborns breathe easier

Summary

This study tests a safe, non-invasive imaging method called electrical impedance tomography (EIT) to help doctors choose the best breathing support settings for newborn infants on ventilators. About 86 babies born between 22 and 41 weeks of pregnancy who need breathing help will take part. The goal is to see if EIT can improve how doctors set the ventilator, potentially reducing lung injury.
