Eggs vs. egg whites: which builds more muscle after 50?

NCT ID NCT00260442

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looked at whether eating whole eggs (with cholesterol) helps adults aged 50-69 gain more muscle from resistance training compared to eating only egg whites. About 36 participants did strength training and ate either whole eggs or egg whites. Researchers measured muscle gain, blood cholesterol, and other health markers to see if dietary cholesterol affects muscle growth.
