Deep cleaning for gum disease: new review looks at what works best
NCT ID NCT06890689
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looks back at patient records to see how effective a standard deep cleaning procedure (scaling and root planing) is for gum pockets that are 5 to 8 millimeters deep. Researchers will track changes over two years in 110 patients treated by dental students at Texas A&M. The goal is to confirm earlier findings and better understand which pocket depths respond best to treatment.
