First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether eating a type of starch that feeds gut bacteria can improve how long people can run. 21 healthy, active adults ate either the special starch or a regular starch for a week, then did a 5km treadmill run. Researchers measured things like muscle fuel and metabolism to understand how gut health might affect exercise performance.
