First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving diabetes patients who are at risk for food insecurity money to buy fruits and vegetables, along with nutrition education, could improve their blood sugar control and reduce emergency room visits. Over 2,000 adults participated, with some receiving the produce benefit and others only educational materials. The researchers compared changes in blood sugar levels and healthcare use between the two groups.
