Race against time: new sepsis treatment trial tests immediate medication vs. standard fluids

NCT ID NCT05179499

Summary

This study compares two emergency approaches for treating septic shock, a life-threatening reaction to infection. Researchers want to know if giving blood pressure medication immediately upon hospital arrival works better than the current standard of starting with intravenous fluids first. The trial involves about 1,000 adult patients with severe sepsis and low blood pressure to see which method helps people recover faster, reduces complications, and shortens hospital stays.
