Race against time: new sepsis treatment skips fluids, goes straight for blood pressure boost
NCT ID NCT05179499
Summary
This large study is comparing two ways to treat life-threatening sepsis right after a patient arrives at the hospital. The standard method is to give fluids first, then add a blood pressure medication if needed. The new method tries giving the blood pressure medication immediately, adding fluids only if necessary. Researchers want to see if starting with the medication helps patients recover faster, reduces complications, and shortens hospital stays.
