PET scan predicts chemo success after just one cycle
NCT ID NCT00904410
First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a special PET scan (FDG-PET) can detect early whether breast cancer is responding to chemotherapy. 63 women with breast tumors larger than 2 cm had a PET scan before and after their first chemo cycle. The goal was to see if changes in the scan could identify responders and non-responders earlier than standard methods like ultrasound. The study did not test a new treatment, but aimed to improve how doctors monitor chemo effectiveness.
