First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at a simple two-step blood test to find primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) earlier in women aged 40 and older. PBC is a chronic liver disease that often has no symptoms at first, leading to late diagnosis. The test automatically checks for specific antibodies when routine liver enzymes are high, aiming to catch the disease sooner and improve treatment success.
