First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study aims to create a new scoring system to detect acute kidney injury (AKI) early after heart surgery. AKI is a common and serious complication that can lead to longer hospital stays, chronic kidney disease, or even death. Researchers will combine blood and urine tests with patient information to identify high-risk individuals sooner, allowing for earlier protective measures. The study involved 400 adults undergoing scheduled, complex heart surgery.
