New nerve block aims to ease ear surgery pain

NCT ID NCT06869967

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether a nerve block (injecting numbing medicine near a nerve in the ear) can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after middle ear surgery. About 56 adults having ear surgery will be randomly assigned to get the nerve block or standard care. The main goal is to see if the block lowers opioid use during and after surgery.
