New MRI technique could spot hidden knee ligament tears

NCT ID NCT02787096

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding a dynamic knee laxity measurement to standard MRI can improve diagnosis of partial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears. Researchers enrolled 151 people with knee injuries and compared the new method to standard MRI. The goal was to see if the combined approach could more accurately identify partial tears, which are often missed.
