Summary

This study tests whether a 6-week self-management program, done with a caregiver's help, can improve diabetes control and thinking skills in older adults who have both diabetes and mild memory loss. About 309 participants aged 55 and older will take part. The program includes weekly group sessions and feedback surveys to see if it works in real-world settings.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) plus caregiver support

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a practical way to help older adults with both diabetes and memory problems better manage their health with support from a caregiver.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage implementation study, not a large-scale trial. The program may not improve diabetes control or cognitive function, and results may not apply to all older adults.
