Shock therapy for stroke: brain zaps boost walking and thinking in new trial

NCT ID NCT06769672

First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether combining a gentle brain stimulation technique (tDCS) with special training that challenges both walking and thinking can help stroke survivors improve their ability to do two things at once. Researchers will measure walking speed, mental performance, and brain activity in 72 participants who had a stroke at least 6 months ago. The goal is to find a better way to reduce the interference between movement and thinking after a stroke.
