Drones vs. ambulances: can flying defibrillators save rural heart attack victims?

NCT ID NCT06229418

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether drones can deliver automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to people having a cardiac arrest in rural areas faster than emergency responders. Researchers will compare arrival times and see if drone delivery is practical. About 128 adults who suffer cardiac arrest will be included. The goal is to gather data for a future trial that could directly measure survival benefits.
