Summary
This study tests a digital group program called WORTH Paths for women aged 18-44 who have been involved in the criminal legal system, have a substance use disorder, and need contraception but aren't using it. The program includes three virtual group sessions with interactive activities to help reduce drug use and increase contraceptive use. Fifty participants will be randomly assigned to either the WORTH Paths program or a general wellness group, and researchers will track changes over three months using surveys and urine tests.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
WORTH Paths digital intervention (behavioral group sessions via videoconference with digital activities)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a scalable, accessible way to help women in the criminal legal system reduce drug use and prevent unintended pregnancies.
What could go wrong
This is a small early feasibility study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is behavioral and relies on self-report and urine tests, which may have limitations.
