Can a phone app help veterans tame chronic pain?
NCT ID NCT07818980
First seen Sep 14, 2026 · Last updated Sep 18, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
Researchers are gathering feedback from Canadian Veterans with chronic pain and from clinicians who treat them. The goal is to adapt an existing digital psychology program, based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and delivered through the Manage My Pain app, so it better fits Veterans' needs. Participants use the program for two weeks, answer questionnaires about how acceptable and feasible it is, and join a virtual interview to suggest changes. The study does not compare the program against another treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A self-guided digital Acceptance and Commitment Therapy program delivered through the Manage My Pain app
- What this could lead to
- If the program proves acceptable and feasible, it could give Canadian Veterans a convenient, self-directed way to manage chronic pain from home.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with 22 participants and no comparison group. The program may not engage Veterans well, and any changes made may not improve pain outcomes.
