First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special low-calorie diet, called a fasting-mimicking diet, given before and after surgery can improve recovery and long-term outcomes for people with colorectal cancer. The diet is designed to be easier to follow than complete fasting, especially for older or frail patients. The trial includes 602 adults with stage III colorectal cancer who are having their first surgery to remove the tumor. Researchers will track how long participants stay free of cancer and their overall survival.
