Summary
This study looks back at medical records of over 46,000 diabetic patients who had surgery in Alberta, Canada. Researchers want to see how often patients had a recent HbA1C test (a measure of long-term blood sugar control) before their operation. They also want to find out if poor blood sugar control is linked to higher risks of complications or death after surgery. The goal is to improve how hospitals prepare diabetic patients for surgery.
