Could a common diabetes pill stop prediabetes in its tracks?

NCT ID NCT06828731

Summary

This small, 12-week pilot study tested whether a medication called empagliflozin, which is already used to treat diabetes, could help people with prediabetes. The goal was to see if the drug could slow or prevent the progression to full diabetes and reduce risks for heart and kidney problems. The study involved 60 veterans with prediabetes to check if this approach is practical for future larger trials.
