Could a common diabetes pill stop prediabetes in its tracks?
NCT ID NCT06828731
Summary
This small pilot study tested if a 12-week course of the drug empagliflozin, which is already used for diabetes, could help people with prediabetes. The goal was to see if it's feasible to study this drug for preventing prediabetes from progressing to full diabetes and related heart and kidney problems. The study involved 60 veterans aged 35-60 who had prediabetes but not diabetes.
