Eye study tests if diabetic donor tissue works for transplants
NCT ID NCT05134480
Summary
This study aimed to find out if corneas from donors with diabetes work as well for a specific type of corneal transplant (DMEK) as corneas from donors without diabetes. Over 1,000 participants received a transplant and were followed for one year to see if the graft stayed clear and healthy. The goal was to help eye banks better decide which donor tissues are safe to use, potentially making more corneas available for surgery.
