Can a diabetic Donor's cornea save your sight?

NCT ID NCT05134480

Summary

This study aimed to find out if corneas from donors with diabetes work as well for transplants as those from donors without diabetes. Over 1,000 patients needing a specific type of corneal transplant (DMEK) received tissue from either a diabetic or non-diabetic donor. Researchers tracked the success of the transplant and the health of the transplanted cells for one year to see if there was a difference.
