New approach may prevent dangerous blood pressure swings during thyroid surgery

Summary
This study tests whether the drug dexmedetomidine can safely control blood pressure and heart rate during surgery to remove active thyroid tumors. About 80 adults aged 20 to 65 will receive either dexmedetomidine or standard blood pressure medicines. The goal is to see if this drug reduces dangerous spikes and drops in blood pressure during the operation.
