Gut recovery boost: two drugs tested after gallbladder surgery

NCT ID NCT07329933

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine, alone or together, can help the gut work better after laparoscopic gallbladder removal. About 160 adults having this surgery will be randomly assigned to receive one of these drugs, both, or a placebo right after anesthesia. The main goal is to see if these drugs reduce gut-related problems like nausea, vomiting, and slow bowel recovery in the first two days after surgery.
