Can adding medication boost talk therapy for depression?

NCT ID NCT06384209

Summary

This study aims to see if combining antidepressant medication with a community-based talk therapy program works better than talk therapy alone for adults with moderate to severe depression in Zimbabwe. It will involve 296 participants who will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard talk therapy or the therapy plus antidepressants prescribed by nurses. The goal is to improve treatment outcomes and understand how to best provide mental health care in primary care settings.
