Skin electricity may predict dementia outbursts before they happen

NCT ID NCT02617056

First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at whether measuring the electrical activity of the skin can warn caregivers that a person with dementia is about to become agitated or aggressive. 21 patients from a dementia unit took part. The goal was to see if these skin signals appear early enough to allow for calming interventions, which could help people stay at home longer.
