Heart protection timer: study reveals when injury begins during bypass

NCT ID NCT07249424

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at 80 adults having heart valve or aortic surgery to find out how long Del Nido cardioplegia (a solution that stops the heart during bypass) keeps the heart safe. Researchers took blood samples at set times to see when heart damage starts to appear. The goal is to help surgeons know the best time to give another dose, without changing standard care.
